Chevy Launches Expansive Marketing Blitz for Silverado

Brand hitting new and old media to hype latest truck.

by Joseph Szczesny on Jan.09, 2019

Chevrolet's new promotional blitz for the new Silverado includes a new TV ad titled "A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock 'n Roll."

Chevrolet has launched a broad new marketing campaign to bolster the sales of the all-new 2019 Silverado that includes an alliance with Amazon, the top retailer in the U.S.

The marketing campaign began with a traditional television advertising blitz during the College Football Playoff National Championship this week with the debut of the new 60-second TV commercial “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock n’ Roll” and carried over onto late-night television.

News Now!

The campaign comes as the Silverado is feeling some intense pressure from its main rivals Ram and Ford. Ram sales are steadily closing the gap with Silverado. Ram sold 500,000 units in 2017, but sales increased 7% to 536,980 while Chevrolet’s sale were essentially 585,561 in part because GM was re-fitting its plants to bring on the new version of the Silverado.  (more…)

First Drive: 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2.7L

Can a small engine really power a big truck?

by Paul A. Eisenstein on Nov.19, 2018

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado features a new 2.7-liter turbo four with cylinder deactivation.

It takes a big engine to make a big truck owner happy — or so went the conventional wisdom among full-size pickup manufacturers until recently.

That strategy has been changing rapidly, in large part reflecting the arrival of some surprisingly peppy, albeit downsized, turbocharged powertrain packages, such as those from Ford’s EcoBoost family. More than half of all F-150s now go out the showroom door with a six under the hood. Now, we’re beginning to see not only competitive V-6 options, but even four-cylinder alternatives, such as the new 2.7-liter Chevrolet is unleashing with the arrival of the 2019 Silverado.

Reviews to Trust!

An engine of that size, with or without a turbocharged kick, might have seemed entirely unlikely just a few years ago, but a day of driving the Silverado 2.7L through the desert badlands outside Phoenix last week proved that big things really can come in small packages. (more…)

First Drive: 2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST Crew Cab

Laden with new tech, plenty of power and impressively quiet.

by Joseph Szczesny on Nov.09, 2018

GM is counting on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado RST to be competitive in the full-size pickup sales battle.

The auto industry is a global industry and highly competitive. But few segments of the business are anywhere near as competitive as the pickup truck market in U.S. where Ford, Ram, Chevrolet and their respective corporate managers are engaged in intense contest for sales and bragging rights.

The contest of has gotten even more intense lately as all three manufacturers have introduced new trucks.

Reviews You Can Trust!

I recently got to drive the new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado – a four-wheel-drive RST Crew Cab Silverado to be precise – and it is far cry from the old trucks that have helped make the American pickup into something of a legend and the object of enormous affection and desire. (more…)

Chevy Aims for Middle of Pickup Market with Silverado Custom

Brand looks to provide mix of value and content.

by Michael Strong on Feb.12, 2015

The new 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Custom gives buyers an affordable mix of amenities and value.

The drop in gas prices has helped spur sales of full-size pickup trucks, but Chevy is looking to carve out a niche in the segment – nice, but not too nice – with its new Silverado Custom introduced at the Chicago Auto Show.

“The economic recovery has led to booming sales of high-end pickups like the Silverado High Country,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks, in a release. “But there are also millions of customers in the heart of the market who want a great looking, well-equipped truck at an affordable price. The Silverado Custom is a truck they can be proud to own and proud to drive.”

Based on the popular double-cab Silverado LS, the Custom package adds 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a body-colored top cap above the front bumper, and chrome mirror caps and door handles. It also features four full doors for easier access to the front and rear seats, a 40/20/40 cloth front seat, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows and door locks, and Chevy MyLink with 4G LTE WiFi. First Drive: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

More than first meets the eye.

by Joseph Szczesny on May.20, 2013

The exterior changes to the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado have largely been aimed at improving aerodynamics.

According to some prognosticators, millions of Americans were supposed to be trading in on hybrids, plug-ins and battery cars this year.  The V-8 engine and the full-size pickup were both supposed to be relegated to the automotive scrap heap.

It hasn’t worked out quite as expected.  Battery car sales have barely registered, and though demand for V-8s has certainly fallen, pickups have been rapidly regaining momentum. We’re expecting sales will grow even more substantially in the months ahead as buyers get a look at the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

Keep on Truckin'!

While Chevy’s full-size truck is far from perfect, it is arguably the best pickup General Motors has ever built. The 2014 Silverado does everything you’d expect a truck to do such as pull a trailer, carry a load or traverse rugged trails. But it’s more than just a solid work truck.  The new Chevy Silverado’s cabin is both unexpectedly quiet nicely furnished, while the pickup delivers a firm, poised ride more similar to that of a large, expensive sedan than the classic, rough-riding truck.
